Pascoe Vale New Build: Compact Silver and Amazon Oak

This one was a new build in Pascoe Vale: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, built by Rerona Family Homes. Wall Boulevard supplied the tile and Armanita Tiling Services laid it. The brief covered both the wet areas and the main living floors.
The bathroom and ensuite were done floor to ceiling in Compact Silver, 600 by 600 millimetres, across both walls and floors. It is a full bodied porcelain, which means the colour runs through the whole tile rather than sitting in a glazed surface layer. That is what you want in a wet area expected to see decades of use.
Running the same tile up the wall and across the floor keeps the visual breaks to a minimum, which is worth doing in a compact bathroom. Compact Silver also comes in a 300 by 600 format if you want a different setout, and the range runs to four colours. Grey was the pick here.
The floors through the entry and living areas are Amazon Oak, a 200 by 1200 millimetre timber look tile. It gives the plank proportions and grain of a timber floor in a material that is hard wearing and low maintenance. No sanding, no polishing, no staining.
The two ranges work together rather than competing. Cool silver grey porcelain in the wet areas, warm timber tone through the living spaces, and classic black tapware in the bathrooms for contrast against the tile. The tapware was not supplied by us, but it is the right call against that grey.
